Small but mighty library branch!
I put things on hold and pick them up from this branch.
Everyone is friendly and helpful.
Once you have your library card, you also have access to the digital library with TONS of digital materials! That’s one of my favorite parts.

This is my local public library. I am constantly there picking up my books and dvds as well. I am so happy how convenient it is and how I value the staff working there. They are great and thankful for keeping the community interested in reading and welcoming all people.

LA library office cleaning happens thanks to local owned businesses like Express Business Cleaning Services.

Not related to the library but to the City #COVID testing site next to it on Reservoir Street.

Requirements for walk ups:
A bar code scan app on your phone for a link to direct you to a Curative sign up link and your insurance card if you have insurance (no told to you) without your card number you want be able to proceed if you’re honest or just select “No insurance”.
No one will tell you where to walk ins are to sign/scan in, it’s to the right of the entrance hanging on the fence.

I love this library, confusingly located squarely in Echo Park, whereas the Echo Park branch is confusingly located smack dab in the middle of Historic Filipinotown. I used to pick up all my holds there, they are kept right in front and you can see them sitting there. Like all LA libraries it always seems occupied entirely by the unhoused using the internet but they try to show movies for kids and do stuff like that. Try the Cafe around the corner!

The staff here is great and very friendly, they are always willing to help and share recommendations. I love this local branch, they have been doing a great job of providing culturally relevant books and their new book sections always surprises me.

Me and my brother love this library its nice chill and clean when you enter.We love to read all the books but to be honest we dont have a problem with it but one things is the bathroom i will say and every time there is this wierd guy sitting at the table and stares at me and has a sign but either than that we love the library

Awesome! One of the librarians (I hope that is the correct term) asked if I needed help. I mentioned that we were just looking and it was our first time there. Holy underpants, it was her time to shine! She spent 20+ minutes chatting my girlfriend and I up about the place. Forgot her name but she was super helpful.
Take time to check it out.

When I was growing up in Los Angeles area I spent so many hours year round in this fantastic library. I used it for many purposes and all were very successful: 1. school work research 2. ancestry studies 3. newspaper archives 4. potential career research articles and technical books. 5. Just relaxing with a novel and enjoying the beauty of the library. P.S. I narrowed down my career choices to about 35 different occupations. The one I always rejected (engineering) was oddly enough the one I fulfilled successfully in a life long career.

Great building and great history. It is an urban library, so keep that in mind before you show up and talk about how dirty it is. The library has coexisted with the increasing homeless population for the last bit of forever

THIS LIBRARY IS AMAZING. Yes, I admit, I am the kind of person that visits public library branches when I travel. Not all public libraries, mind you. But the great ones. A lot of people visit Los Angeles’s main public library, but I’m not sure as many people think to visit Los Angeles’s. They should!!!

This library is great. They have lots of programs too. I came to study and write. Ample space for both. Available bathrooms too, and artwork throughout. Beautiful place. There is a soft search of your bags going in (and out I think too) for security. Not a problem for me. Very helpful staff

It is an okay library, it is often loud, and homeless are frequently outside or come inside, staff chats a lot. It is a typical library, I recommend going to a different library. Not very family friendly.

The library itself and the staff are both great. Unfortunately, they let anyone one in no matter how intoxicated they are.
A guy visually on something wondered from chair to chair until he finally pulled out a pipe of you can imagine what, and took a hit right across my computer station. No one from staff told him anything!
And he was not the only one like that.
I’d say if you don’t plan on staying inside for too long definitely visit it, otherwise if you’re looking for a place to read or study you’re better off/safe going somewhere else.

Its a small but easy to.aceess located in main down town. Five PCs usually no rush some time awsitng in a queue for ur turn. One small hall, as I experienced one writer berry lancet book ceremony was held

Warning to visitors: This library is primarily for students. So when u visit this spacious facility on a uncomfortably hot, weekday morning to use one of their many computer workstations, be prepared to (1) realize how vast this place is when there are very few people inside and (2) be told while u ask for a guest pass that the nearest library you can use is “that nice brick structure two blocks away. This place is for students.”
